Industry ties, patents, and young researchers

The Technical University of Sofia, which has established itself as a leading center for engineering education and scientific research in Bulgaria, combines tradition, modern infrastructure, and a strong focus on innovation and the practical application of scientific findings. The university has a well-developed research base, including centers of excellence and numerous specialized laboratories, where faculty, researchers, doctoral students, and undergraduates collaborate on scientific and industrial projects. A particularly important part of its activities is the transfer of knowledge and technology to the business sector, which has led to the creation of innovative products, patents, utility models, and engineering solutions with real-world applications. TU – Sofia actively promotes the development of doctoral students and young scientists through specialized doctoral schools, research project competitions, and initiatives such as the Student Innovation Hub, which create opportunities for young people to develop their own ideas and scientific potential. The university maintains strong ties with industry through joint research projects, internships, work placements, and large-scale career initiatives, including the annual “Internships” fair, which brings together over 100 employers and thousands of students.
